TRAC Makes Sure School is Cool

Halesowen-based air conditioning experts TRAC have helped make sure students at Haybridge High School think their school is cool.

The work was commissioned by building services engineering company C.A. Sothers Ltd, who carry out installation and maintenance contracts in a range of projects including education, commercial, industrial and leisure developments.  C.A. Sothers won the contract to extend the Hagley-based school’s sixth form centre, and consequently sub-contracted the installation of an air conditioning system to TRAC.

TRAC have previously installed air conditioning systems in several other buildings at the school, and undertake regular service and maintenance work.  This pre-existing relationship and knowledge of TRAC’s high standards was instrumental to TRAC being chosen for the project.  The work was part of a complete modernisation of various departments in the school that lasted a total of 2 years.  TRAC were involved for 6 months of that process.

Contracts manager Craig Baker was delighted with the level of efficiency that TRAC worked at, especially considering the size of the project as a whole, and including the fact that the school was fully operational at the time.  “Kids can be very inquisitive,” he laughs.  “TRAC are specialists in their own sector.  They know what they’re doing and they don’t cause any problems.”

TRAC installed a Mitsubishi VRF System, which functions to maintain temperature conditions within the space.  Following recent government legislation regarding the reduction of energy consumption, director at TRAC Ian Lowe is proud of TRAC’s commitment to conservation.  “We are using the most modern of energy efficient heating, cooling and ventilation systems.”  He adds, “It is also important that the students are working in a nice, pleasant environment.”

TRAC firmly believes that a constantly comfortable working environment promotes less stress.  So when the pressure of exams starts heating up, the students of Haybridge High School will be able to keep their cool.
