Public Get Cool New Loos Thanks to TRAC

TRAC has been involved in a unique new facility in Wolverhampton city centre, which offers visitors the chance to access a variety of council services and public toilets.

The council’s WcityStop.info, in Victoria Street, gives residents the chance to access City Direct free of charge by phone, use the council’s website and find out more about council initiatives on an LCD display screen. City Direct was introduced by the council to act as a new contact centre to make it faster and easier for the public to access services, get information and report a problem.

WcityStop.info also features male, female and easy access toilets, a shower, a parent and baby room and baby feeding area.

A working group of officers from across the council including graphic designers, architects, electrical, structural and mechanical engineers, quantity surveyors, building control, service developments and Environmental Services developed the proposals and brought the project to fruition.

TRAC was employed to provide and install air conditioning units in what is effectively an underground building.

Steve Cooke, senior heating engineer for the property services at Wolverhampton City Council comments: “Even in this hot summer the conditions in the WcityStop.Info are very cool and comfortable thanks to the two Daikin air conditioning units that TRAC supplied and installed.”

Councillor Andrew Johnson who was instrumental in getting the project off the ground officially opened the facility in June.
